PLANETS Cancer Charity
Our aim is to work together as a team to try and give you the best and most up to date treatment and care that each one of us can offer within our specialty.
We are fortunate enough to work in a hospital environment that has a vision directed at establishing world leading care for specialist services (often called tertiary services in Department of Health terminology) here in Southampton.
Southampton University Hospitals and Spire Southampton Hospital are both committed to providing high level, state of the art, cross specialty care to patients with complex conditions such as Pancreatic and Neuroendocrine Tumours (NET)
There are many excellent individual clinicians specialising in Pancreatic, Liver and NETs across the globe, however as with most things in life the best results are achieved when care is not focussed on a single clinician or treatment, but rather on providing the full range of treatments, delivered by a group of highly qualified clinicians working together as a team.
This way we can tailor the treatment to the individual and his or her circumstances. There is no “one size fits all” approach with this disease.
We are also committed to research into these cancers by further developing and evaluating treatments to try and achieve a year by year improvement in the long term out look for this disease. We strive to achieve these goals and invite those of you who are being treated for Pancreatic Liver or NET tumours or live with or care for someone with these cancers to join our team in fighting these diseases.
The people below comprises the core members of this team, there are many other clinicians who are involved with specific cases on occasion, so in a hospital service with nearly 5,000 employees the list will never be exhaustive. None the less these are the specialists who will be principally involved with your care:
