Luke Nolan
Medical Oncology / Thoracic and gastrointestinal cancers
Training and Education
Dr Nolan trained in medical oncology at the Christie Hospital in Manchester and University Hospital Southampton. He completed his PhD at the University of Southampton in 2010, and took up his post as a consultant in medical oncology soon afterwards.
Current Role
Dr Nolan is a consultant medical oncologist specialising in the treatment of thoracic and gastrointestinal cancers. His time is divided between Southampton and the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester.
Interests and experience
Dr Nolan’s main interest is understanding tumour biology to facilitate the utilisation of molecular targeted therapy for a range of tumour types. This is an area of lung cancer treatment which is rapidly evolving, and together with the other members of the thoracic oncology team, Dr Nolan is involved in a number of clinical trials in this area.
Research
As a consultant medical oncologist Dr Nolan is an active clinical trialist. He is the principal investigator on clinical trials in mesothelioma, lung cancer and gastrointestinal cancers and has presented research at a range of national and international meetings.
