NET Cancer Day - Emma

PLANETS and our wonderful supporters made sure that NET Cancer Day did not pass unnoticed on November 10th.  To raise awareness of this rare, complex  cancer NET Nurse Specialist Emma Ramsey manned an information stand with the help of patients Cathi, Sam, Ruth, Mick, Maureen and Jacky in the foyer of Southampton Hospital.  We also had supporters holding coffee mornings to raise funds and awareness in their own community as well as a NET Patient, Marbellys, running the 10 miles between her local hospitals (Bournemouth and Poole) in Zebra print – an epic challenge from someone who has recently gone through surgery and also a great way to catch people’s attention (see below).

National NET charity The NET Patient Foundation also made sure full advantage was taken of this worldwide campaign by releasing a press release that makes recommendations to protect world-class neuroendocrine care in this country.  The full press release can be read here.

It was great to see the NET community come together to try and make a difference for NET patients all over the country.  Thank you to everyone who got involved on every level, even sharing a post on Facebook could have helped make one more person aware of this often ignored disease, it all helps and we will continue to strive to improve things for those patients living with NETS.
