Hospital Heroes Awards

Neil Pearce, Jo Green and Layla Stephen collecting the Charity Star Award from Major Paul Spanner, of the Royal Marines

The PLANETS team are delighted to announce that last night we were awarded the Southampton Hospital Charity Star Award at the Hospital Heroes Awards ceremony at Novotel West Quay, Southampton.  Co-Founder Neil Pearce, Fund Manager Layla Stephen and her sidekick Jo Green collected the award on the whole team’s behalf and Neil thanked every person that has been involved since the charity’s inception in 2011.  We have achieved more than we dreamed of and have gained more support than we ever felt possible and it was fantastic to have this recognised.  Onwards and upwards now, there is still so much to do!

This year’s guest speaker was Major Paul Spanner, of the Royal Marines, who was treated at the hospital in summer 2013 after a near fatal cycling accident. He thanked everyone at Southampton General for helping save his life.

Trust chief executive Fiona Dalton closed the ceremony by praising everyone for their hard work, adding: “Do not underestimate the impact you have made. You are an inspiration and an example to everyone.”

Thank you to everyone that has supported us to date, we are very grateful and excited about the coming year.

All the winners and runners up
