University-of-Southampton

You may have notice that Southampton was mentioned in recent media stories regarding The National Tumour Bank that is carrying out important pancreatic cancer research?
Colin Johnson, Professor of Surgical Sciences at University of Southampton, has this to say about the project: ‘The National Tissue Bank is a major development in pancreatic cancer research. Several high volume pancreatic surgery centres from around the UK, including Southampton, have combined to build a collection of pancreatic cancer tissue samples. This will enable researchers to study detailed changes in cancer tissue, and to investigate potential markers to help earlier diagnosis. The samples are available for local researchers and are also pooled across the research network to support national collaborations.  This project will run for at least 5 years and will be an important resource in the fight against this killer disease.’

Exciting and much needed developments for pancreatic cancer.
