With immediate effect it has been agreed that LAPR&D will merge under the PLANETS banner and operate as one organisation.

LAPR&D, established by patients in 2012 to support the research and the development of surgical treatment for liver and pancreatic cancer, and PLANETS have similar objectives in relation to research and support for those impacted by these cancers. The research project recently approved by LAPR&D will continue and we will bring more exciting news on progress over the following months.

LAPR&D Patron Kelvin Davis states “we would like to thank all of our supporters who have given of their time and energy over the past 11 years to raise funds for our research programmes. We have come a long way since our establishment by Professor Mo Abu Hilal but feel now that we would be stronger under the PLANETS banner”.

Neil Pearce, a recently retired consultant surgeon and co-founder of PLANETS Cancer Charity, said: “We are delighted to welcome LAPR&D on board as we have similar research and development goals while also providing patient support and looking after a wider range of cancers.  It is an exciting partnership and we will now be looking to support and progress this excellent research programme moving forward.”

LAPR&D supporters are encouraged follow PLANETS Charity’s website and social media links (found in the footer of the website) for future updates on the research project and other developments from PLANETS that will benefit patients.
